There has been a huge surge in the number of infected by coronavirus in Sweden. From 32 cases on Tuesday evening, there’s now over 50 confirmed cases in Sweden.
16 of the cases on Wednesday was in the region Stockholm. There is a total number of 31 cases in the region now.
27 of the cases in Stockholm have been infected outside Sweden or have been in contact with people who have been outside Sweden, but 4 are not known yet.
Over 500 people in Stockholm have now been tested for the virus.
There are now:
- 11 cases in Västra Götland
- 31 cases in Stockholm
- 3 cases in Jönköping
- 2 cases in Uppsala
- 2 cases in Skåne
- 2 cases in Värmland
- 1 case in Örebro
- A total of 52 cases in Sweden
Most of the cases involves people who have been to Northern Italy, but there are also a significant number who have been infected in Sweden.
Sweden is now among the top 10 worst affected countries in Europe.
It’s not only Sweden who has had a big surge in the number of coronavirus cases lately.
Norway, with only half the population of Sweden, has more cases of coronavirus than Sweden. There were no less than 56 cases on Wednesday evening, an increase with 23 from Tuesday evening.
Iceland had 26 cases on Wednesday evening – which is by far worst in Northern Europe taking into account the island’s small population.
There are now at the time of writing over 95,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus worldwide, with over 3000 in Italy and over 200 in Spain, France and Germany.
