A boy under the age of 15 was seriously injured after being stabbed in the throat near a school in the Swedish city of Gothenburg.
The suspect, also a boy under the age of 15 has been arrested by the police.
Police were called to the scene during school hours on Monday afternoon about a boy laying on the ground by a school. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The crime scene was closed off by police for forensic investigation and the attack is being investigated as attempted murder, police however do not know about any motive at present.
The victim is a student at the school where the attack took place, and attends sixth grade. Sixth grade students in Sweden are normally around 12 years old.
Police found the suspect in his residence and was arrested. Because of his young age, social services will be present during interrogation. It is currently not known if the suspect was also a student at the same school.
All students att the school were sent home and the crisis support team was on the scene according to Marie Åhma, communication chief at the primary school management.
This is not the first time that there has been incidents at this school. In 2016 two students were taken to hospital with wounds, likely from a knife.
The fight back then is reported to have started with students throwing erasers at each other, and it was two boys around 15 years old that had been fighting.
This same school has previously been reported to have bad grades. In 2010, only 55% of ninth graders at this school got approved grades, one of the reasons for this was that many students had poor Swedish language skills.
As we have reported on earlier, there has been an alarming trend in Sweden recently with young children are involved in sadistic attacks, in which attackers commit horrifying acts to their victims.
Carin Götblad, chief for police region Mitt, earlier said that she has seen several cases where perpetrators have urinated in the mouth of their victims, and also committed other humiliating attacks.
